Port of Piraeus Success Story: Digitizing Vehicle Logistics with INFORM

The Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) S.A., part of the COSCO SHIPPING Group, has partnered with INFORM to digitize and optimize its vehicle handling processes at the car terminal. This initiative aims to enhance the strategic importance of the Port of Piraeus for international vehicle trade, ensuring greater efficiency and transparency in operations.

key highlights

Strategic importance and expansion

The Port of Piraeus is the largest port in Greece and a key transit hub for trade between Europe and Asia, handling over 600,000 vehicle movements annually.

By implementing INFORM’s intelligent IT system, PPA aims to expand its capacity and improve its position as a central node for vehicle logistics in the eastern Mediterranean region.

End-to-End-Transparency and optimization

The new system provides comprehensive visibility across the entire supply chain, allowing customers, suppliers, 3PL, and customs authorities to track vehicle movements in real-time via a web portal.

INFORM’s algorithms optimize operational processes in real-time, enhancing decision-making and ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Enhanced Resource utilization

The INFORM system helps PPA make optimal use of its 145,000 square meters car terminal, improving storage space allocation and increasing service capacity.

Automated workorders and real-time optimization ensure that terminal operations are smooth and that target dates are consistently met.

As part of this new collaboration, PPA aims to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of its car terminal and make it more attractive to its customers. We believe that INFORM's vehicle logistics system can guarantee the successful digital transformation of PPA's car terminal.
