INFORM optimizes delivery traffic at Swiss household goods expert V-ZUG

Jan 24, 2023

Making delivery traffic transparent and time-saving without delivery peaks - to achieve this goal, Swiss household goods manufacturer V-ZUG AG has been using specialized INFORM software for a year.

For over 100 years, V-ZUG AG has been producing long-lasting household appliances for kitchens and washrooms in the heart of Switzerland. Every day, about 25 trucks supply the main plant in Zug with raw materials, components and packaging. These deliveries are usually made asymmetrically throughout the day. In the past, this often led to traffic jams and overloads at the loading points in the plant. Thanks to intelligent algorithms, the SYNCROSUPPLY time slot and yard management system now ensures improved delivery planning by distributing deliveries in a more even manner throughout the day. It also provides higher transparency of processes. In this way, V-ZUG AG avoids traffic jams caused by delivery peaks and related loading point bottlenecks.

"With the system, we can react better in case of loading point bottlenecks and also make targeted rescheduling," explains Michel Schmutz, Deputy Team Leader Incoming Goods at V-ZUG. "By smoothing out the utilization, we can utilize the personnel and material resources deployed more evenly and also shorten the throughput times of the trucks on the factory site."

INFORM software organizes truck arrivals at the plant site in the hosted standard Premium edition of the SYNCROSUPPLY time slot and yard management system. Carriers can book dynamic time slots via a central time slot booking platform. This ensures a smoothing of deliveries throughout the day, optimized unloading planning, and better utilization of employees. The staff also have a better overview of the incoming trucks in the goods receiving area and can be allocated more effectively.

Many of V-ZUG's freight forwarding partners already know SYNCROSUPPLY from other suppliers and are familiar with the booking process. As a result, acceptance of the system among all parties involved is very high right from the start. "The system means a relief in the daily work routine for everyone, which no one wants to do without today," Michel Schmutz continues.
