Gates and Stands Management

One of the biggest challenges for many airports is to adjust their own infrastructure to the ever increasing volume of traffic. An efficient and effective resource management which takes into account the allocation problem of gates, aircraft positions and terminals is becoming increasingly important to achieve customer satisfaction of both airlines and passengers.

Solution

GroundStar offers the entire range of strategic, seasonal and tactical planning for the control of gates, apron positions and terminal resources. To this end, the solution automatically provides all relevant data and makes them available to users and third-party systems. On the basis of a performance optimization process, it is possible to maximize the utilization of resources while minimizing costs.

In the planning phase, the user is supported by "what-if"-scenarios which allow the creation and evaluation of alternative plans. On the operating day, aircraft stands, gates, counters and baggage belts are continuously optimized and adapted based on current flight information. The assignment will automatically be forwarded to FIS, AODB or the airport.

Features

GroundStar reaches the optimization of all processes related to planning, management and control of the infrastructure of an airport. Based on powerful optimization methods, both a qualitative and at the same time cost-effective performance is achieved.

  • AIRCRAFT STANDS/ GATES - HARD RULES AND PREFERENCES

Any specific restrictions of an airport have specific rule-based requirements that are taken into account. For example, size restrictions, minimum ground times, minimum time intervals, temporary closures or crossing gates/stand area passenger flows. Priority allocation of advanced positions, for example, on specific requests by an airline can be represented in a flexible regulatory framework.

  • AIRCRAFT STANDS/ GATES - OPTIMIZATION

Powerful optimization methods will maximize resource utilization, while minimizing aircraft tows and passenger bus transports. At the same time, rule-based preferences will be considered while complying to all applicable hard rules such as aircraft size or movement area restrictions.

  • TERMINAL RESOURCES - HARD RULES AND PREFERENCES

Specific rule sets specialized on the different types of terminal resources allow the precise definition of the demand for passenger gates, belts, common check-in, dedicated check-in and other customer service desks. Preferred terminal resource allocations, e.g. specific airline requests can be represented in a fine-grained ruleset.

  • TERMINAL RESOURCES - OPTIMIZATION

Maximum use of resources in compliance with all applicable rules and applicable preferences.

  • PROVISION OF DATA

GroundStar offers powerful services that automatically collect and accumulate all relevant flight data. Its module for data analysis and visualization with subjects such as reporting, dashboards and ETL/warehousing addresses both operational and analytical application scenarios.

Benefits

GroundStar achieves the most efficient use of the existing infrastructure of an airport. All available typical business rules are accurately represented in the system and thus contribute to an optimized allocation of resources in all phases of planning.

  • Improved planning process

  • Increased productivity of planners and dispatchers

  • Reduction of delays and costs

  • Optimized resource utilization

  • Increased airline and passenger satisfaction
