Baden-Airpark, which includes Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, has chosen INFORM's WorkforcePlus software for workforce management. With this move, the rapidly growing regional airport is responding to the increasing complexity of its personnel scheduling while simultaneously advancing the digital transformation of its operational work processes.

In recent years, Baden-Airpark has recorded rising passenger numbers: from 1.3 million before the pandemic to 2.2 million in 2023. For 2026, the airport expects 2.5 million passengers. This dynamic development presents daily challenges in shift planning for the 330 employees, approximately 280 of whom work in operations.
From Excel to Intelligent Optimization
Until now, duty rosters at Baden-Airpark were created and maintained manually in numerous Excel files. "We had over eight working groups and more than 20 different planning files in circulation. The complexity had simply become too high", said Eric Blechschmidt, Head of Aviation, Marketing and Sales, and authorized signatory of Baden-Airpark. "One employee sometimes spent two weeks creating and adjusting the duty rosters. With WorkforcePlus, this effort will be reduced to just a few minutes per department in the future." Starting in January 2026, the eight departments involved will gradually transition from Excel to the new system.
INFORM's intelligent optimization software offers AI-optimized workforce planning that simultaneously considers multiple parameters: from qualifications and working time models to collective bargaining requirements and individual employee preferences. This ensures fair and transparent shift distribution and facilitates short-term adjustments in cases of illness or changes to the flight schedule.
Seamless Integration into Existing Processes
An important factor in the decision for INFORM was the easy integration into existing IT structures. WorkforcePlus offers interfaces to SAP and other planning systems, enabling automated data exchange from target shift times through time management to payroll processing. Communication of duty rosters will also become significantly more efficient: employees can access their schedules via mobile devices in a personalized manner, eliminating the need for changes to be communicated by phone or email.
For Baden-Airpark, this project represents a crucial step toward digital and unified duty roster planning. "Our planners are already looking forward to processes becoming simpler, faster, and more transparent", Blechschmidt concluded. With WorkforcePlus, Baden-Airpark is creating the foundation for future-oriented and fair workforce management, ensuring that the airport can operate efficiently and in a service-oriented manner even with further increasing traffic volumes.
