Workforce management 2.0: pioneering companies in LATAM opt for intelligent software

Oct 2, 2025

WorkforcePlus automates shift planning by taking into account multiple variables such as labor regulations, availability, rotation, and individual preferences, facilitating management in organizations with highly complex operations.

Shift planning in organizations with extensive and diverse operations has become an increasingly complex task. The demands of a changing work environment – marked by the need for greater flexibility, regulatory compliance, and attention to worker well-being – have left traditional management methods, such as spreadsheets and printed documents, behind.

In this context, Sodexo – a company with a strong presence in food services and facility management – began a modernization process in Chile in early 2025. As part of this transformation, it started implementing WorkforcePlus, a tool developed by the German company INFORM that automates and optimizes shift planning by considering factors such as current legislation, leaves, absences, seasonality, and individual employee preferences.

"Large-scale shift allocation is extremely complex, especially if you want to comply with legislation, maintain fairness, respect individual preferences, and ensure operational continuity," explains Javier Rebolledo, Director of Workforce Management at INFORM for Latin America, adding that this tool helps organizations manage this process more efficiently, transparently, and with a focus on people's quality of life.

WorkforcePlus platform is already operational in several Sodexo contracts in Chile, at a key moment for labor management in the country, marked by the progressive implementation of the new law reducing working hours. In an organization with thousands of employees deployed throughout the country, the need for technological solutions that guarantee efficiency, regulatory compliance, and adaptability is more relevant than ever.

In this context, WorkforcePlus has proven to be a strategic tool thanks to its ability to integrate with complex and dynamic operational structures. Its advanced algorithm enables intelligent shift management, adapted to regulatory changes and the particularities of each operation. At the same time, the solution incorporates variables linked to the well-being of teams, promoting people-centered management as a key axis for sustainability and organizational success.

Better quality of life, a key goal

WorkforcePlus integrates seamlessly with the systems already used by Sodexo, such as SAP for master data management and the attendance control system. Through APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), real-time data synchronization is enabled, minimizing errors and making shift management more agile, precise, and people-oriented. This implementation responds not only to an operational need, but also to a modern vision of work, where technology does not replace humans, but empowers them.

Furthermore, the decision to move towards a solution such as WorkforcePlus is in line with a trend that INFORM has identified in its research: between 55% and 60% of workers who do not perform desk-based tasks say they do not have effective tools to influence their schedules or adequate technology to manage their time autonomously.

“We are proud to accompany Sodexo in this transformation process. When implemented with a human focus, these types of tools allow shifts to be better adjusted to personal realities, reducing turnover, increasing motivation, and strengthening team commitment,” says Federico dos Reis, CEO at INFORM for Latin America.

Beyond the operational benefits, these types of initiatives reinforce a people-centered vision of work, where technology acts as a facilitator of workplace well-being. By optimizing shift management and promoting greater autonomy, motivation and team stability are enhanced, resulting in a tangible improvement in the quality of service delivered to customers.
