VW Mexico has realized its vision of highly integrated vehicle logistics with the software solution from INFORM. This system coordinates production and import/export volumes in a highly efficient process and ensures that vehicles reach their destinations quickly and cost-effectively.
In Puebla, Mexico, VW not only produces the legendary Beetle, but also the Jetta. Every year, around 600,000 vehicles are produced here by 15,000 employees for worldwide distribution. These vehicles travel long distances before they can be handed over to their new owners, which requires perfectly coordinated logistics.

The plant in Puebla produces around 600,000 vehicles a year, including models such as the Beetle and the Jetta.
The logistics process includes production, storage and transportation using a combination of trucks, trains and ships to reach dealers in Europe, North America and South America.
Vehicle logistics optimized thanks to software
INFORM's Vehicle Logistics System, which was implemented in 2007, coordinates all logistics processes, from storage to shipping.
The system connects to Volkswagen's global supply chain management system, TOMCADS, to generate optimized workflows for vehicle shipping.
Efficient terminal management
The terminal in Puebla can accommodate over 11,500 cars, with additional external parking spaces for 8,000 vehicles.
Around 1,700 cars leave the plant in Puebla every day, with 1,200 being transported by train and 1,500 by truck.
