Kaufmann optimizes Vehicle Logistics With INFORM's Software solution

"The faster and more efficient processing of orders meant that we were able to increase our delivery reliability from 85 to 97 percent on average. Our main goal has been achieved and we are very satisfied.”

Daniel Diaz, Finished Vehicle Logistics Deputy Manager at Kaufmann

Kaufmann not only has to manage an upfitting process that features multi-stage production, the company also must coordinate the activities with external service providers. Because of their growth and the complexities of processes, Kaufmann realized that it was imperative to introduce a new software system with mathematical decision intelligence that not only optimally plans the sequence of all production steps, but also automates and standardizes the prioritization of orders. At the same time, Kaufmann wanted the system to improve logistics processes at a new central parking area („yard“) and improve coordination with the 30 service providers. The project’s top priority was to increase delivery reliability to the customer. Today, Kaufmann is using INFORM‘s software solution for Vehicle Logistics to plan all the complex processes involved in adapting the trucks and to control all input, output and service processes on the new yard. The company was able to increase its delivery reliability to 97 percent, reduce waiting times for the processing of individual trucks by 15 percent, and increase the volume of work carried out by 30 percent.

Kaufmann decided to implement the INFORM system because the Aachen-based company already has reference installations at automotive manufacturers and logistics companies all over the world and has demonstrated a deep, industry-specific understanding of processes.
