With a remarkable career spanning 17 years, Rafael has been deeply involved in optimization projects within the research and IT sectors. Since joining INFORM in 2008, he has been instrumental in advancing optimization solutions within the container terminal industry, leading multiple notable international projects with esteemed clients like GCT, DP World, and TraPac. 

Rafael is a sought-after specialist speaker at both industrial and academic conferences, where he passionately advocates for the real-world opportunities presented by Operations Research and AI. Holding a PhD in Mathematical Optimization from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Rafael brings a wealth of expertise to the table. Beyond his professional pursuits, Rafael is known for his daily ritual of rolling the dice in a game of Backgammon, showcasing his strategic acumen in both work and leisure..
