Truck

Truck supply control

Unforeseen events as delays or urgent deliveries can quickly change the daily plan of the truck supply control at the gate and at the loading points. Just one minor incident can throw the plan out of balance.

Improved Yard Management

Intelligent truck supply control systems can automatically respond to unforeseen disruptions in the workflow within seconds. This is achieved by reviewing the time slot schedule after each event in real time. If necessary, the software makes adjustments via the web portal which coordinates sites and carriers. Intelligent optimization algorithms find solutions at any time for situations such as:

  • A truck is too early, too late, or arrives unannounced
  • A truck delivers goods for another loading bay or more goods than expected
  • A truck arrives to collect goods and the loading point is temporarily out of service
  • A truck delivers urgently needed goods in short supply

The truck supply control system complements the time slot management system and helps handle day-to-day operations on schedule. To respond to any deviations, a new truck handling schedule can be calculated within seconds taking into account all relevant framework conditions.

Solution SyncroSupply Features

INFORM´s intelligent truck supply control system improves transparency for handling incoming and outgoing delivery logistics, saves time and reduces costs for shippers and carriers.

  • Variable check-in process

To optimize the truck supply during day-to-day operations, the software logs at least the arrival and departure of the truck at the main gate. Self check-in terminals or a smartphone app - similar to check-in at an airport - can be used if required. Communication columns, traffic lights, barriers, RFID technology or magnetic card readers can be linked to the truck supply control system at the gate.

  • Real time optimization

The software reschedules as soon as there are deviations from the schedule, such as unannounced or delayed trucks, urgent deliveries of materials in short supply or resource shifts at the loading points.
Thus, the software optimizes the time slot schedule in real time considering the status of all vehicles and the capacity of the loading points. It independently takes new scheduling decisions for an optimum throughput sequence of all trucks and communicates this information without manual intervention in the process.

  • Communication and control

The truck supply control system communicates automatically and in real time with the drivers via display boards or mobile communication devices (pagers, SMS, app). This way, the trucks can be controlled to the loading points, buffer and parking spaces within the plant.

The system offers a dedicated app the smart devices of the drivers, loading point employees and for running ADR checks. The driver app offers the following options in over 25 languages:

    • Scanning the completed load
    • Locating the truck's position
    • Transmitting instructions directly to the driver.
  • Trailer Yard

No matter whether in distribution centers or in production plants, the pick-up and collection of trailers is often buffered by trailer yards to accelerate handling. The software manages trailer yards, including the coordination of internal movements of trailer or chassis.

  • Connecting a transport management system

Internal and external logistics can be synchronized, if the truck supply control system is linked to a transport management system.

  • Scalability

The system is easily scalable to adapt functional attributes and volumes. Time slot management systems handle all requirements - from a handful of trucks up to a thousand trucks a day. The truck supply control software provides multilingual, time zone and multiple client handling functions.

  • Integration

The system can be integrated either via dedicated standard interfaces (API) or via modified, direct interfaces with third-party systems. Usually, information about orders, material or the status of goods are compared with one another. The information can also be transmitted to a data warehouse.

  • Control Tower and Management Reporting

All information recorded via the truck supply control system is made available to the users. Meaningful dashboards and KPIs instantly provide useful management information summarized in informative online reports.

Benefits

The benefits of the intelligent truck supply control system SYNCROSUPPLY include:

  • Reduced throughput times

by an optimized throughput sequence taking all truck and loading point resources into account.

  • Faster processing at the gate

swift entry at the plant gate and less manual effort required.

  • More efficient use of resources

due to forward planning and optimally balanced use of resources.

  • Cost reduction

by reduced demurrage costs or cargo rates, thanks to shorter waiting and throughput times.

  • Reliable production supply

by enabling punctual material supply/collection and considering priority loads.

  • Flexibility of the time slot schedule

fast rescheduling if trucks arrive early or late, or loading points capacities deviate.

  • Considerably less congestion in the plant

congestions inside and outside the plant are permanently reduced.

  • Improved transparency

fast rescheduling if trucks arrive early or late, or loading points capacities deviate.

Telematics

Telematics support intelligent truck supply control

Telematic systems enable carriers to gather and analyze information on trucks in service via GPS and GPRS. Telematics, though, show their limitations when it comes to planning the up and downstream processes involved in incoming truck deliveries.

Our software solution integrates data from telematic systems to calculate optimized logistical decisions. The telematic controller with SYNCROSUPPLY helps automate supply logistics by:

  • Comparing announced deliveries with goods actually loaded via integrated scanning processes at goods collection
  • Automatic checking of the truck tracking position via GPS for comparing the arrival time with the booked time slot
  • Immediate entry to the plant following barcode scanning on the delivery note (quick check-in)

Ramp management

Optimized ramp management accelerates truck handling

The efficient processing of incoming and outgoing goods in industry and trade mainly depends on optimally organized handling processes. The smooth handling is only possible due to comprehensive and flexible ramp management.

INFORM software considers all information on the entire delivery process during planning the loading processes at the ramp. Therefore, firms are able to dispatch trucks within optimal lead times.

Automated ramp management module permits:

  • forward planning of resources at the ramp
  • short loading and unloading times
  • no queues and shorter waiting times
  • continuous transparency over the whole delivery process
  • increased customer satisfaction thanks to more accurate planning.

Building materials logistics

Optimized Loading Point Management in Building Materials Logistics

INFORM's software for building materials transport optimizes loading point management, both in preliminary planning and real time processing.

When loading points are used more efficiently, users benefit from

  • Maximized real loading capacity,
  • Minimized waiting and throughput times for supplies (clinker, alternative fuels, derived fuels) and collections,
  • Bottleneck avoidance in the plant and congested roadways and entrances,
  • Optimal use of available products and storage capacity to ensure the best possible delivery capacity.

Geo Fencing

Geo Fencing for your truck deliveries

As a critical element to telematics hardware and software, geo fencing allows users to draw zones around certain places, These "geo fences" trigger a warning to the user via SMS or Email when crossed.

Manufacturers, distribution centers and shippers can handle their challenges and manage their approaching trucks trouble-free by tracking via geo fencing. The TruckRadar App tracks the trucks at several distance points in the delivery process via geo fences while on their way to the destination.

Find out more about the three easy steps to geo fencing for an optimized truck supply control here.

Chemical industry logistics

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPPLY AND DELIVERY PROCESSES

For chemical companies or parks the control of supply and plant traffic is a particularly complex process compared to other industries.

The tanker trucks go through a multiple stops for hazardous goods checks, laboratory tests and weighing procedures using special equipment for loading and unloading that can only be operated by trained staff.

The SYNCROSUPPLY software ensures continuously transparent and efficient processing enabling

  • immediate integration of associated activities
  • control of the trucks according to their individually established procedure (based on process tape)
  • dependencies to be taken into consideration between loading and unloading systems
  • storage of process-specific test reports or accompanying documents
  • a coordinated approach of all functional stations such as weighing machines and laboratories.
