Automotive Inbound and Outbound Logistics

Processes in automobile production are highly optimized down to the smallest detail. Logistics, in particular inbound and outbound logistics, has to be synchronized into these processes to enable a smooth production.

To bring automotive supply logistics and plant logistics into sync, an intelligent system is required that can handle just-in-time planning as well as supply uncertainties inherent in the logistics sector.

Optimized Transport Management

In order to plan their daily hundreds to several thousand truck runs, many companies have established time slot booking platforms and supply control systems. Using intelligent processes to support advanced planning and real-time control accelerates truck throughput and reduces waiting times and demurrage charges.

INFORM offers a complete solution for this, from time slot booking to ramp management, which works with intelligent processes both on a planning and control level. Most German OEM's and many automotive suppliers already benefit from such an optimized inbound and outbound logistics.

Solution SyncroSupply Features

INFORM's intelligent optimizing solution for inbound and outbound logistics supports the complete process of material supply and delivery, from planning and optimization to real-time control on the day of delivery. It can be flexibly adapted to the production and logistics concept of the automobile manufacturer or supplier.

This ensures an uninterrupted production supply, avoids traffic jams before and in the plant and increases transparency throughout the supply chain.

  • Web portal for suppliers and carriers

Suppliers and/or carriers can register their deliveries using a web portal.

  • Optimized slot planning

The system supports decisions about time slots by taking into account all important constraints: waiting times, resource utilization, priorization etc.

  • Real-time control with intelligent optimization

Dynamic reaction to deviations of the plan are considered in real-time; for example: Trucks arriving too early or late, material bottlenecks, shortages in resources, etc.

  • Variable check-in processes

Similar to airport check-ins. The system offers the possibility for mobile, self and manual check-ins.

  • Comprehensive performance assessments

Online-KPI's, comprehensive reporting and historical information at the touch of a button.

Benefits

Online-KPI's, comprehensive reporting and historical information at the touch of a button.

  • Synchronization of delivery to production

  • Transparency in the supply chain

  • Prevention of congestion inside and outside the plant

  • Reduced waiting and turnaround times

  • Minimization of demurrage charges

  • Smooth utilization of resources

  • Simplified communication with suppliers and carriers

  • Conclusive KPIs and statistics

Study truck supply control Optimization potential in industrial enterprises

To discover the optimization potential of truck inflow control in industry, the Institute for Operations Research and Management (INFORM) carried out a study in which 50 industrial enterprises from different sectors were surveyed regarding the technical and organizational situation in this field.

The resulting study report includes a compact summary of the results followed by detailed information on all questions asked and answers given. The third section describes the work of an intelligent truck supply control and presents criteria to support an investment decision. A concrete business case is shown in the fifth part, including the optimization potential that could be achieved by a truck supply control. The final part covers the methodology used for the survey.
